Desolation Sound Vacation

07/23/2019 - 08/07/2019 🍒

We did it. We took Cerise on our first extended vacation to the

Desolation Sound area of British Columbia. Desolation Sound (DS) is a popular cruising ground about 200 miles north of the Seattle area between Vancouver Island and British

Columbia’s Sunshine coast. There are many islands and beautiful

remote little bays and coves for anchoring. There are also a few

marinas that you can get fuel, water and supplies. It was a great place

to relax and just enjoy being out in nature and away from the rat race.

Some highlights of our trip include traveling about 400 nautical miles,

visiting 14 different locations, 7 Fuel stops, our first ever overnight

anchoring. Our first ever Stern Tie anchoring. Towing the dinghy

between anchorages, and generally using the dinghy a lot.

We had a really great vacation and enjoyed spending 2 weeks on

Cerise. She performed great. We learned a lot on this vacation.

Places we stayed and visited on the trip: 1. Deer Harbor 2. Ganges 3. Nanaimo 4. Comox (with RT group) 5. Gorge Harbor (with RT group) 6. Von Donop inlet 7. Squirrel Cove 8. Teakerne Arm 9. Refuge Cove 10. Roscoe Bay 11. Powell River Marina 12. Montague Bay 13. Garrison Bay 14. Roche Harbor
